It’s Been A While…

I know, I know.  I’ve been neglecting my blog duties.  And of course I chose this particular moment, amidst the most stressful week of the school year thus far, to correct the situation.  Despite not having posted in over half a year (oops…), I still have an average of about 3 views per day (not too unlike when I do post), which I think is sort of funny.  Well, I don’t have anything really exciting to post today, but I will just catch you up on the fashiony adventures of my life since I last posted.

My most recent design adventure is ongoing.  I’ve shopped for, but haven’t yet begun, constructing my Halloween costume for this year.  My housemates and I are all going as modern vampires (void of sparkly skin, of course).  I’ll be wearing a corset, pencil skirt, sleek cape combo of my own making.  It will be a little provocative (not as provocative as one particular roommate of mine…) but nothing to racy to put my name on.

Unfortunately, I am not taking any fashion-related classes this term.  It’s a little sad but since school began my inbox has been flooded with design opportunities for the term including OSU Fashion Organization and the Rain Check Fashion Show, to commence in January.  It’s quite a cool concept, really, and is addressing an issue that is close to my heart.  This fashion show will focus on breaking the thin-model image and allow the designers to expand their horizons by designing for models of all different shapes and sizes.  Being a bigger girl, the idea really strikes me as something that is a very positive way to handle the topic and hopefully break down some of the barriers that are created for women who don’t feel beautiful for one physical “imperfection” or another.  I’ll hopefully be designing three looks for the show, one of which I plan to model myself.

And finally, the most important development in my own fashion world is shopping.  Don’t get me wrong, I am the budgetiest of shoppers, but over the months I have acquired quite the new wardrobe (yay for me!) a lot of which I’m sure you will be seeing in the weeks to come.  Out of all this shopping and looking through my wardrobe every morning when I get dressed, I’ve decided that whomever thought it was a good idea to let cardigans go out of style when I was a pre-teen was crazy.  They are the perfect addition to nearly any outfit!  Especially when you live in a place with weather like Corvallis where you never know what you’re going to get hit with.

And now, I leave you with some pictures of a past Halloween costume of mine.  I was Catwoman.  I’m no Halle Berry, but still.
